Sir Becks & Sausage Rolls
Meet The Cotswold Guy
Chris Davey AKA The Cotswold Guy is exactly that - a resident champion of The Cotswolds, spreading good vibes with great food all over the AONB.
We visited and had a yarn over coffee to find out about his celebrity patrons, the secrets to his award-winning sausage rolls and more…
How did you get started with you passion for food and provenance?
I started cooking with my mum as a kid. We were the type of family that after one meal ended, we were already thinking about the next so I suppose that's where my love of food came from! My love of good food and seeing people enjoy the food I make is something that really fulfils me.
Have you always called the Cotswolds home?
I have lived all over; I grew up in the Maldon area where the best sea salt and oysters come from! I still use Maldon Oysters for all my dinner parties. Then I moved overseas and lived and worked in the Dominican Republic, Miami, Napa Valley and I am now lucky enough to call The Cotswolds home.
How important are your ingredients?
Ingredients are super important; great food starts with the best ingredients. I never compromise on ingredients.
How pivotal to your business was the support from Sir David Beckham?
I was hugely grateful when Sir David Beckham gave us coverage, it was completely impromptu. We have gained a cult following from all over the world to try the sausage rolls now!
Three desert island ingredients?
Maldon Sea Salt, Flour and Tomatoes
Three Cotswolds haunts?
Soho Farmhouse, The Fox, Broadwell and of course The Cotswold Guy!
If you could choose anything, what would be your ‘last supper’ and where would you be?
Snow crab, melted butter, sitting by the ocean somewhere!

I would love to cook for Gordon Ramsay!
