The Back to School Feeling...

Do we ever lose that back-to-school feeling when September starts?

As we bid farewell to the slower summer days and warmer weather, a return to routine is made more palatable with some new sartorial staples. It's time to pack away the linen and reach for some fresh new Oxford shirts, organise your sock drawer, bring out the knitwear and contemplate adding a jacket (and taking an umbrella!). There is joy in dressing for a new season and comfort in clothing that feels fresh yet familiar...

Wishing you and yours very happy September starts - at school, work, wherever you are

See you soon,
JP

 Behind the scenes…

As summer fades and the pace picks ups, having fresh new matching socks can make you feel ahead of the game… yes, really! We take our sock game seriously and offer a large array from cashmere to fine wool, in classic and bold colour options. Whatever your particular penchant, quality is everything. We create our colourful cotton socks in Leicestershire (the sartorial home of sock-making in the UK), our cashmere socks in Scotland, and our fine wool socks in Italy (all are small and family run).

Our signature 'chunky' socks (the ever-popular heel & toe and stripey ones) are made in Leicestershire. We visited there at the start of this year to work on the season's collection and took along our friend and photographer, Alex Natt, to capture the factory in all it's glory…

A factory comprising just two (highly skilled) staff and lots of Bentley Komet cotton sock knitting machines, ancient in appearance but timeless in efficacy, are still producing the best socks on the market in my mind. Rob who runs the factory is part-time sock maker and full-time mechanic - keeping 80-year-old machines going strong. Their standards are second to none using the finest yarns, made with hand linked toes and just the right tension.

William Crabtree socks are created for timeless style and comfort. Leicester has a long history of sock making and we are proud to be working with such specialists who hold similar values to us.
