Our Cotswold Black Book

Cotswold Guide
"Seven years ago, James moved from London to a village near Burford in the Cotswolds, where he lives with his wife, two young sons and black labrador; and just opened a second store (to partner the London flagship) locally in Stow-on-the- Wold..."
Recently our friends at YOLO Journal visited us in store.
Big fans of The Cotswolds, they have put together one of their signature Little Black Books for the area and kindly asked for my contributions. I was very honored to be included amongst learned locals with excellent taste including Carole Bamford, Amanda Brookes, Duncan Campbell, Luke Edward Hall, Lily Atherton Hanbury, Fiona Howden, Harry Llewellyn, Katharine Sohn and Tim Yates.
An extract on my favourites to eat, drink & shop are below…
To Eat & Drink
The Bell Inn, Langford – Great pub food and a good place to stay.
Worton Kitchen Garden – Excellent food from local seasonal produce prepared with worldwide tastes, served in natural surroundings.
The Woolpack, Slad – Another great pub with great food and atmosphere.
Eleven. Bibury – Seasonal ingredients and a real flavour of the Cotwolds in lovely surroundings.
Donnington Brewery, also in Stow-on-the-Wold – We recently did a photo shoot here and it was stunning. You can also buy their bottled beer, which is great.
FarmED, in Shipton-under-Wychwood – Good place to learn about farming and food production as well as a great place to have a snack!
D'Ambrosi Fine Foods – Great American deli just a 2 minute walk from our new store in Stow-on-the-Wold.
Blake's, Clanfield – The best sourdough, in my opinion, also great focaccia and cinnamon buns.
Stow Town Coffee – excellent small roasters and coffee counter.
The Straw Kitchen – Based at Whichford Pottery, an ideal coffee and cake spot and for handmade terracotta flower pots.
The Oxford Cow – Delicious, locally made ice cream.
To Shop
Rustique and Country Home, Stow-on-the-Wold – Great interiors shop, shabby chic and very chic.
Manfred Schotten Antiques in Burford – In the town along from Stow, antiques specialising in sporting goods. My idea of utter heaven!
Relics of Witney – Just a great shop for DIY stuff and all kinds of useful objects.
C'est Tout Interiors, Shipton Under Wychwood – Great antiques gallery/shop, specialising in French pieces.
