Coat Tales

Coat Tales
It's time to layer up and invest in outerwear that will go the distance in style.
We visited our coat factory in Northamptonshire at the beginning of the year. It's a small-scale family-run workshop. They have been making outerwear since the 70's, mainly for countryside pursuits, so our brief is a little novel in that they are created with city style in mind too. The designs all have a paired back country feel, so they can be worn legitimately and consistently in the countryside but also be smart and appropriate for town.
Our coats are generally a year in the making. We start to look at cloths 12 months in advance and choose colours we would like to focus on. Then we build a collection around it so all items, and especially knitwear and outerwear, can be worn and layered together.
This winter we have focused on earthy tones, a new Loden green cloth for the Farington Field Coat, to sit alongside the existing and popular Navy and Brown Check.
Our Rossendale coats in Fawn and Russet feature a muted pattern with accents of light tan and cranberry. Woven in Scotland from a 380 gram Shetland Yarn which is Top Dyed' to create a weathered, earthy appearance with a stunning depth of colour.
Our coats are small-run so it means you won't be in the same coat as anyone you meet on a city street or country lane...
The Rossendale Raglan Coat
The Rossendale Raglan Coat is available again in Fawn Herringbone and in Russet, a new cloth we have developed. On the Russet, we have added square patch pockets so it can be worn very casually with jeans as well as more formally. Both have a large pleated full length rear vent for maximum comfort and to ensure full movement at all times. A classic you'll wear for many winters to come...
The Farington Field Coat
We wanted to create a hard wearing and versatile field coat ideal for the inclement weather that was suitable for smart casual city looks as well as reliable for all-weather country pursuits. This is a discerning option for the transitional seasons. It's a clean, understated look in either the new Loden Green, the Brown Check or Navy Melton. You may find it hard to rotate with anything else (other than the Rossendale coat of course!) this season…
